SSC-CGL Dates are Out now for exams conducted in 2019

About Staff Selection Commision :

Perks of government jobs are beyond anyone would get in private sector. Staff Selection Commission was established in 1975. Indian Government have recruitment process conducted by Staff Selection Commision. Just like private companies have recruitment process conducted by HR people. Staff Selection Commission conducts Interview post Entrance Exam as a result around 30 lakh students apply. Only 3 lakh i.e. 10% of application pass the Online exam and go for Personal Interview.

Important to know about SSC :

  1. Minimum Age limit to apply is 18 years
  2. Candidate can apply for more than one position
  3. Minimum qualification is graduation in any disciplinary

Examination Structure :

This exam is conducted in 3 levels called Tier 1, Tier 2 for 200 marks & Tier 3. Below is the description :

1.Tier 1 : Preliminary Exam – 200 Marks for 50 Markes each section

It is Multiple Choice Exam and includes subject:

  • Logical Reasoning (50 Marks)
  • General Awareness (50 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)
  • English Comprehension (50 Marks)

2. Tier 2 : Mains Exam – 800 Marks for 200 Marks each section

This is also Multiple Choice Exam but has higher difficulty level as compared to Tier 1. Subjects are mentioned below :

  • Quantitative Aptitude (200 Marks)
  • English Language & Comprehension (200 Marks)
  • Statistics (200 Marks)
  • General Studies (200 Marks)
    • Finance & Accounting
    • Economics & Governance

3. Tier 3 : Descriptive Exam of writing letters, Essay, Precis, and Application writing.

4. Tier 4 : Computer operating skill based

  • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) : Expected typing rate is 2000 key presses in 15 minutes.
  • Computing Proficiency Test (CPT) : This Includes Word processing, Spread sheets and making Slides
